Music has always played a major part in each of the individual members of Woodfish’s lives. Brothers, Steve (Bass) and Dominic (Drums) Kalorin were surrounded by both musical and athletic influences in their lives which they believe has helped to help contribute the to bands intensely rhythmic sound. Singer Jimmy Counihan started singing and belting out awesome melody lines in his church choir at the age of six. His love for performing kept him involved, and moved him straight forward into the world of original rock music. Doug Mikula started playing guitar at the age of twelve in 1997 after first learning to play piano, bass, and drums. A natural musician, with guitar chops that could shred steel into little bits of musical melodic nuggets, Doug’s love for playing seems to keep his guitar in his hands both day and night. Don Honeycutt also known as the “The Guy” or these days “The Big Sexy” has been playing music since the age of three while experimenting on his family's electric organ. After taking up the alto saxophone at the age of eight because the tenor was too large, he gained chops both on other instruments and in many other styles of music, including a stretch of jazz playing in Ithaca, New York. But now he's home, playing rock and roll on the tenor saxophone.
Currently, Woodfish has won several awards including "Best Groove Rock Band", "Best Jam Band" and "Best Bass Player". Woodfish was picked as New Jersey's Shore's performer of the year in 2006 and has performed along side acts such as Foghat, Keller Williams, Robert Randolph & The Family Band, The Spin Doctors' Chris Barron, Particle, Oteil & The Peacemakers (From the Allman Brothers), Will Hoge, deSol, Devon Allman's Honeytribe.
